We're Not a Gallery, But We Play One on TV.

In true 540 fashion, we actually had no intention whatsoever of having art shows. Then Kevin from Green Apple Books next door wanted to do a book release party for these deadbeat poster guys from the Firehouse Kustom Rock Art Co. and so we hung a bunch of their posters on the wall. They didn't bother to pick them up for a month or so (in fact I still have some of them from a year ago March) and so we had our first art show.

Since, we've had a ton of cool shit up, ranging from tattooist art and other poster guys to rock and roll photography and Anneke's crazy 8-foot tall watercolors of nudes with bird heads (you have to see it to believe it.) We rotate shows about once a month, and always have an opening and a closing party. The work is usually for sale (and in the right price range), and for some shows we do posters and tshirts and other cool shit to make it more warm and fuzzy and less gallery-esque.
